A free 3D viewer for the spatial reasoning questions in the 11+. The solid, the net and the folded sheet below are real models from exam-style questions. Drag the solid round, fold the net up and open the sheet out, so a child can see what the flat exam picture is hiding.

These three pictures are drawn live from the solid on the left. A views question asks for one of them. Press a view button and the matching picture lights up: every column becomes a strip as tall as its tallest cube, and the depth disappears.
Ask your child to say what the front view will look like before pressing the button. Then turn the solid slowly by hand and watch the cubes at the back slide out of sight.
The net is printed with symbols on its faces, as the exam prints it. Push the Fold slider and every square swings about the edge it shares with its neighbour, so the child can watch where each symbol lands rather than guess.
Opposite pairs colours the faces that finish facing each other. Two symbols that share a colour can never be seen together on one cube, which rules out most wrong answers at a glance.
Match the answer picture stands the folded cube the way answer options are drawn, so it can be held against them.
A fold-and-punch question shows a square of paper folded once or more, then a hole punched through all the layers, and asks what the sheet looks like opened out. The tally under the sheet counts the layers under the punch as it goes.
Step through with the buttons or drag the slider. The trick a child has to learn is that every fold is a mirror: opening a fold reflects each hole across the fold line, so one punch through four layers makes four holes.
This sheet is folded three times before the punch, which is about the middle of what an exam paper prints. Pause at the punch and count the layers before opening it.

Why a viewer
Every 3D question on an 11+ non-verbal reasoning paper is a flat drawing of a solid thing. A pile of cubes is drawn from one fixed angle, up and to the right, and the child is asked what it looks like from somewhere else, or how many cubes are in it, including the ones the drawing hides. A net is drawn flat and the child has to fold it in their head. A folded sheet is drawn at each stage and the child has to run the folds backwards.
These skills can be difficult to learn from a static picture alone. Seeing the transformation happen makes the hidden movement visible. That is what this page is for. Each model opens exactly as the exam would print it, then lets the child turn it, fold it or open it out and watch the printed picture come apart into the real shape.
