Looking along the arrow from the right-hand side, which outline does the solid make?

frontfrom the right

💡 Hints

The back row runs two-stack, three-cube tower, single; a two-stack sits mid-left with a single mid-right; a final two-stack holds the front-right, nearest the arrow.

🧊 3D model

Drag the picture to turn the solid, or use the buttons for the three exam views.
Drag to turn

From above there are 6 squares, so six stacks stand on the ground. Count the rows running back: that is how many strips the side view has.

Turn it round to the right-hand side and watch the front row land on the left. The tallest cube in each row sets the height of its strip.

From the front the columns read 2, 3, 2 — a different picture of the same solid, and not the one asked for.

The solid as the question prints it, with the front labelled.

This is the view the question asks for: from the right it reads 2, 2, 3, with the solid’s front at the left. A strip is as tall as the tallest cube in that row.

🗝️ Key method

  1. One column per row of the solid.
  2. Rows hide height along their length.
  3. Front row left, back row right.
1
The front row is the two-stack beside the arrow, so the view opens with two.
2
The middle row keeps its two-stack at the far end behind a nearer single: two again.
3
The back row’s nearest cube is a single, but the three-cube tower stands mid-row: three. Two, two, three, front row to back row.
🎉 Answer: A
